Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises all sail to Hawaii, but in very different ways. Carnival runs round trips from Southern California; Royal Caribbean and Celebrity mostly offer one-way crossings between Vancouver and Honolulu.
Carnival Cruise Line
Carnival’s “Journeys” Hawaii cruises are 14-day round trips from Long Beach, near Los Angeles. In the 2026–27 season they are sailed by Carnival Radiance, and Carnival Legend is scheduled to take over a dedicated Hawaii series from Long Beach in 2027–28, calling at Honolulu, Maui, Kauaʻi, Hilo and Kona with a stop in Ensenada.
The appeal is easy access for Southern Californians, Carnival’s relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and value pricing. Expect four or so sea days in each direction, which Carnival fills with its usual pools, entertainment and kids’ programs.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity
Royal Caribbean and its sister line Celebrity usually come to Hawaii on repositioning voyages. In spring and autumn, ships that spend the summer in Alaska move to or from the South Pacific and Asia, and some sail one way between Vancouver and Honolulu. Recent examples include nine-night Vancouver–Honolulu sailings on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas and on Celebrity Edge, with about five days at sea before the first island.
These cruises suit travelers who want a modern big ship, live within reach of Vancouver or Seattle, and are happy to fly home from Hawaii (or stay on for a land holiday). Because they are seasonal and few in number, the best cabins sell early.
Getting the Most From a One-Way Sailing
- Book a one-way flight home from Honolulu early; open-jaw air is part of the plan. See Cruise Airfare.
- Add hotel nights at the end; our sibling Hawaii Cruise explains land-and-cruise combinations.
- Remember a passport if your cruise starts in Canada.
- Use the sea days: they are ideal for trying specialty restaurants and shows before the busy island days.
Whichever of the three you choose, compare the number of island days carefully. A 14-day round trip and a nine-night one-way crossing can spend a similar number of days in Hawaii, even though one is much longer overall.
